Design Service Process
Getting design services is easier than you might think. It starts with a designer visiting your home to take precise measurements, which are quickly turned into an accurate “as-built” floor plan. From there, you’ll work closely with your designer to explore ideas, review layouts, and refine the design to fit your vision and budget. Once the design is approved, we create detailed construction drawings and coordinate with engineers if needed. These plans are then submitted for permits, and we handle all the paperwork and revisions on your behalf. With our customer-forward approach, we listen to you and help bring your vision to life—keeping you informed and involved every step of the way.
Step 1: Measure – Laying the Groundwork
Every project at Coast Builders Group starts with accurate measurements. Once our service agreement is signed, we’ll schedule a visit to your home to verify the existing layout and take detailed measurements.
Our design process depends on getting the details right from the start. That’s why our measurement technicians take the time to capture everything precisely. Within 76 hours, you’ll receive a detailed as-built floor plan—the foundation we’ll use to start designing your dream space.

Step 2: Design – Turning Ideas Into a Plan
With your as-built floor plan complete, our designer gets to work on bringing your vision to life. Within about 10 business days, we’ll contact you to schedule your initial design presentation. This is where the creative process begins—you’ll review ideas, give feedback, and work closely with your designer to shape a plan that reflects your style, needs, and budget.
Whether you're adding a room, remodeling your home, converting a garage, building an ADU, adding a swimming pool, refreshing your interior design, or even building a brand-new home from the ground up—we’re here to make it happen. Every project is tailored to you, with smart, functional, and cost-effective solutions. And with our customer-forward approach, you’ll stay informed and involved every step of the way.
Step 3: Draw – From Design to Detailed Plans
Once you’ve approved the final design, our team gets to work preparing the construction documents—the technical plans your builder and the city will need. During this phase, your designer will coordinate with a structural engineer, and we’ll provide a separate agreement for those required engineering services.
These detailed drawings include everything from existing and new walls to doors, windows, stairs, decks, plumbing fixtures, and mechanical systems. We also include foundation plans, roof framing, cross sections, window and door schedules, energy calculations, and any structural details needed for plan check and permitting.
It’s a key step in moving your project from vision to reality—and we make sure it’s done thoroughly and efficiently.

Step 4: Permitting – Submitting Plans for Approval
Once your construction documents are complete, we’ll submit your plans to the City or County for plan check and permitting. Our team handles the paperwork, tracks progress, and manages any corrections or clearances required by the local building department.
While permitting timelines can vary based on your location and project scope, we do everything we can to keep the process moving smoothly. With Coast Builders Group, you won’t have to worry—we take care of the red tape so you can stay focused on your vision.
Step 5: Construction Bidding – Build with Confidence
